About Super Sibling™
Super Sibling™ was created from the belief that when one child is diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, the entire family experiences the diagnosis—not just the child living with the condition.
While parents quickly learn how to manage blood glucose levels, insulin, and daily medical care, siblings are often left trying to make sense of a life-changing experience with little guidance or support. They may feel worried, confused, overlooked, or unsure of how they fit into their sibling's new reality. These emotions are common, yet sibling support is often missing from the resources families receive after diagnosis.
Super Sibling™ was designed to change that.
Created by Kelsey Ruffing, MA, MS, LCPC—a clinical health therapist, educator, pediatric chronic illness advocate, and mother of a child living with Type 1 diabetes—Super Sibling provides thoughtfully designed resources that help siblings understand diabetes, express their emotions, build confidence, and discover meaningful ways to support their brother or sister.
Our collection includes storybooks, activity workbooks, parent guides, family resources, and educational materials that transform difficult conversations into opportunities for connection, resilience, and hope. Every resource is created with the understanding that emotional well-being is just as important as medical care.
At Super Sibling™, our mission is simple: to ensure that no sibling feels forgotten after a Type 1 diabetes diagnosis. By equipping families, healthcare providers, and organizations with practical, engaging, and emotionally supportive tools, we strive to strengthen the entire family—not just one child.
Because when siblings feel included, informed, and empowered, families become stronger together.
